Helen Kirkman talks about her
latest releases in the Warriors
Of The Dragon Series (Quills Historical)
The
best part of a love story for me is that particular moment when one person looks
at another and knows that they are no longer isolated or alone - whatever the
world throws at them, there will be someone to share it.
That
thought is so compelling it seems whichever story I embark on, some such pivotal
“moment” will make itself appear.
Writing
about the “Warriors of the Dragon Banner” fascinated me because I knew each
one of the warriors was going to have to work hard for his “moment”. Ninth
century Britain was filled with colour and drama and still half locked in
mystery. With the drama came danger.“Fiery dragons” flew through the skies above, heralding a Viking
invasion, and all the English kingdoms fell except Wessex - a land which burned
like a bright star.
Surviving
against the odds takes determination and so does loving. We all understand the emotional risks involved when we trust someone with
our deepest feelings - which brings me full circle. What I want to write about is the reward for taking the risk, for
offering someone else hope and passion and vulnerability - the reward that lies
in the very moment we recognise the person who will share our life.
