Fiona Lowe talks about A
Wedding In Warragurra (March '08)
I’m really
excited and honoured to have a book out in Harlequin Mills and Boon’s
centenary year! I started reading Mills and Boon Medical Romance many long, hot
summers ago, as a teenager on the beach. I’ve always loved the drama and
excitement of Medical Romance so it seemed a natural progression to try and
write one.
I live in a
town where you’re only 1-2 handshakes away from everyone.
At times, this has its disadvantages but one of the overwhelming
advantages is a sense of community. With that in mind I created outback
Warragurra. This town has its problems but it also has its strengths and when
one of its own is under threat, it draws together as a community, united in
purpose.
Ovarian
cancer is a threat to women. It sneaks silently into our lives often causing
irreparable damage before we even know it’s there. Fortunately the Women’s
Cancer Institute in association with HealthLinx and ARL are currently
conducting trials of a new test for detecting ovarian cancer early.
But like all medical research it takes a lot of dedication and money and
donations are gratefully received.
My hero,
Baden and his daughter, Sasha, are rebuilding their lives after losing a loved
one to ovarian cancer. Kate is rebuilding her life and filling it with her work
at the Flying Doctor’s Base. Neither Kate nor Baden believes in
“happy-ever-afters” and they closely guard their hearts. But the
outback heat shimmers between them, and the township of Warragurra pushes them
together until they finally realise that to risk loving is what life is all
about.
I hope you
enjoy a visit to Warragurra and that you join me again later in the year for
another Warragurra story. Keep up to date with all my books at http://www.fionalowe.com
Love
